Who doesn’t love the smell of freshly baked naan bread? Fresh from the oven, smothered in garlic butter, and topped with herbs and dry spices, this fluffy bread is the perfect comfort food for any occasion. If you love to mop up gravy sauce with a pillowy naan, we have a few delicious recipes you can try. You can serve it alongside yummy paneer butter masala or kadai paneer, but it’s absolutely perfect on its own as well.

Here are a few tasty naan recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that come together in no time. If you’ve never made your own bread before, Indian flatbreads are a good place to start.

    1.Garlic naan

A family favorite that goes well with almost anything! From soups and stews to curries like tikka masala or butter chicken, garlic naan is great as a side dish to any meal.

Combine water, sugar, and yeast and set aside for 10-15 minutes until the mixture starts bubbling up. Add in milk, yogurt, oil, flour, baking powder, and salt, and mix until the dough comes together with your hands. Transfer the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it carefully so it’s completely smooth. Brush the dough with oil and return it to the mixing bowl to rest for about an hour until it’s doubled in size.

When you’re ready to make your garlic naan, divide the dough into equal pieces and use a rolling pin to roll it into circles or ovals. Brush both sides of the bread with butter and transfer onto a hot skillet until golden brown. For garlic butter topping, combine melted butter and minced garlic to brush on the freshly cooked naans, along with a fresh herb of your choice.

    2.Butter naan

If you prefer your naan plain without any garlic-butter topping, this is the way to go! Delicious, soft, and fluffy, butter naans are some of the most ordered flatbreads at Indian restaurants and enjoyed with a variety of curries.

Make the dough as already mentioned and give it some time to rise. The dough should be soft and smooth if you want to get a fluffy texture for your naans. It’s okay even if it’s a bit sticky – just use more flour when rolling it out. Slather the naan with butter and fry on a hot skillet. You know you’ve achieved the perfect cook when it’s crispy and bubbly on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside!

    3.Chili cheese naan

Forget grilled cheese sandwich croutons! A modern twist on the traditional Indian flatbread, chili cheese naan can be paired amazingly well with your favorite soup.

In a small bowl, combine melted butter, chopped garlic, red chili flakes, and salt. Once your dough is rolled out and ready to go in the oven, brush naan with this mixture and top with chopped jalapeno and shredded mozzarella. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the naan is crispy and the cheese is melted. Garnish with cilantro and serve with creamy and spicy tomato soup!
